Wenyen Gabriel was born on March 26, 1997 in the city of Khartoum, Sudan, he is 2.06 m tall. and competes in position “5”.

He attended college in Kentucky playing successfully for the Kentucky Wildcats for two years. In his second season he averaged 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 37 games.

In 2018, he signed a contract with the Sacramento Kings and then played in the G-League with the Stockton Kings.

At the start of the 2019-2020 season he played in 11 NBA games with the Sacramento Kings and in January 2020 was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, with whom he played in 19 games.

In the 2020-2021 season, he wore the jersey of the New Orleans Pelicans for 21 matches, averaging 3.5 points and 2.7 rebounds. The following year, after a stint with the G-League and the Wisconsin Herd, where he averaged 13.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 12 games, he signed a contract with the Brooklyn Nets, wearing the jersey for 6 games.

On March 1, 2022, he signed with the Los Angeles Lakers and in 19 games averaged 6.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.

The following season with the Lakers (2022-2023) was also his best in the NBA as he played with them for 68 matches having 5.5 points and 4.2 on average.

In the 2023-2024 season he returned to the Wisconsin Herd, while in March 2024 he signed with the Memphis Grizzlies, with whom he played in 5 matches, averaging 3.4 points and 5 rebounds.

He played a total of 150 regular season games in the NBA, averaging 4.4 points and 3.4 rebounds.

He finished the 2023-2024 season with the Vaqueros de Bayamon of Puerto Rico and in 23 games had 13 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.

In July 2024 Wenien Gabriel signed a contract with Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, averaging 5.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 15:06 and 9 games in the competition.

Wenyen Gabriel was a key member of the South Sudan National Team in the 2023 World Cup, where the African team competed for the first time in its history in a major tournament. There he averaged 9.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1 steal in 5 matches.

In 2024, he was again a member of his country’s representative group at the Paris Olympics, averaging 5.7 points, 9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.
