Olympiacos: The records that Bartzokas is chasing on the “red and white” bench

His last game Olympiakou for 2024 and home win over Lavrio for the 12th round of the Stoiximan GBL, had a special meaning for him George Bartzokas.

And that’s because it was 180th time of the Greek technician on the “red and white” bench in championship matches, thus surpassing the late, Yannis Ioannidison the relevant list of Olympiakos coaches with the most matches since the establishment of the professional league in the 1992-93 season.

Bartzokas is chasing two more records that will put him at the top of the entire history of the basketball team. To begin with, he still needs six wins to become the Polinik coach of Piraeus in all the years that the “red and white” compete in the Greek league. When this happens, he will once again surpass Giannis Ioannidis, who has 168 pink cards.

The second record that the three-time best coach of the Euroleague is chasing is the one with them more matches on the edge of the “red and white” bench in the club’s history. It is currently in third place behind the huge Phaedon Matthaiou who reached 204 games as coach of Olympiakos in nine seasons and the Yannis Ioannidis who had completed 208 matches in six seasons.
