“The Panathinaikos Athletic Club expresses its deep and sincere condolences to the family and friends of the former swimmer of the Club, Martha Beri, who passed away.

Born on January 27, 1955, she enrolled in the “clover” swimming department at the age of just 8 and stayed at PAO until 1971, when she moved with her family to Australia.

Beri’s big moment came at the Mediterranean Games in 1971 when the “green” athlete captured the bronze medal with the 4X100m team. el who had made a time of 4.34.81.

At the same time, she has become the champion of Greece, while at the same time she has broken the Pan-Hellenic record five times, and all this at the age of 16!

Beri remained with the Association and it is characteristic that she has been awarded by Panathinaikos for her eight-year contribution.

In an earlier statement on the official website of Erasitechnis, she said: “I remember very well the years I was at Panathinaikos and it is a pleasant surprise for me to be recognized if I am in the Green Legends. I have vivid memories of the 1968 championship, some of my records but of course also the Mediterranean games of 1971”.

Martha Beri was a key member of the Swimming Team of Panathinaikos A.O. and a member of the National Swim Team in the late 60s and early 70s.
