Manu Garthia: “The derby with PAOK is the moment to change everything!”

On Sunday evening (19/01, 19:00), o Mars hosts him PAOK in “Kl. Vikelidis” for the 19th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League, in the great derby of Thessaloniki.

Speaking to Nova’s camera, Mr Manu Garthia he referred to the specifics of the match, to the fact that both teams are coming from negative results, while he also sent his own message to the world of the club.

Manus Garthia’s statements in detail:



“First of all, we have a lot of appetite to play this game. We are coming from negative results and it is an opportunity for us in this game, in front of our world, to change things.”

Which of his new teammates has he said something about the game, since it is the first home derby against PAOK for them: “I don’t need to say anything… They’ve figured it out themselves that it’s a special game! In the city if you walk around this week, everyone has this anticipation, for this match. However, I, as well as those who have been in the team for many years, have explained to them that it is time to change and make a new beginning!”

For what are the elements that will play a significant role in the development of the match: “We know that in these classic derbies there is a lot of competition. In fact, many times not very good football is played. We have to be good in our own area, when we defend, and effective in the opponent’s area. We have to do this better than in other games.”



If it really matters that the two teams go into the derby injured: “Each game has its peculiarities. In other games we may have been hurt, in others the opponents. Each game is a special “world”. We have to go into this game with the will to win. That will play a role.”

On whether their appearance against Olympiakos has changed the psychological mood of the Aris players: “This season, in most derbies against our big rivals we are playing well. In the game against PAOK we want to continue the good performance we had in the previous one against Olympiakos. We want to bring joy to our world! This motivates us.”

A message to friends of Mars: “We want them to be on our side! We want to get into the stadium and make them happy! We want to repay the trust and power they give us.”
