Last Friday (10/01), Mr Sasha Vezenkov came one… breath away from breaking the record for most points in a EuroLeague game, with the Bulgarian forward Olympiakou to stop at 45 points, in the impressive home victory of the “red and white” over her Bayern Munich with a score of 112-69!

The holder of said record, Nigel Hayes-Davies (50pts.)spoke to Media of Serbia about Vezenkov’s historic appearance, deifying the superstar of Piraeus!

“I had no idea what was going on. I had a day off and someone posted in a group chat that Sasha had just scored 45 points.

My first thought was that it was really cool and that he probably only did three dribbles. I texted him, told him he should have gone for the record. Everyone knows he’s a great player, but nights like this don’t happen often. He told me he had no problem not breaking the record. For a long time, it seemed like 50 points was an impossible task in the EuroLeague. And when you see someone doing it, you think maybe it’s possible after all.”

On whether basketball has changed in Europe: “Basketball has changed. It’s a little faster, and everyone saw that it’s possible, and now more and more players are thinking about this number. It is extremely difficult, especially in the EuroLeague, because of the time and the number of shots you will take. take for now, I am happy.

I saw Sasha’s footage. It’s incredible to do that with three dribbles. I’ve always said he’s one of my favorite players to watch in the EuroLeague. One on one, he might not win over a lot of people, but when you watch him play – he’s fantastic. I’m a big fan of his.
