US President Joe Biden confirmed on Wednesday that Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire and hostage exchange deal that will end fighting in Gaza and increase humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.

“Today, after many months of intensive diplomacy by the United States, along with Egypt and Qatar, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement on the ceasefire and the hostages. This deal will end the fighting in Gaza, increase much-needed humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians and reunite hostages with their families after more than 15 months of captivity.” Biden said.

The agreement was reached after 15 months of pain, he said, and would be followed by a large humanitarian aid to Gaza.

“We are determined to bring all the hostages home” noted Joe Biden, commenting on the agreement, adding that with the agreement, Palestinians will also be able to return to their neighborhoods in all areas of Gaza.

“I made the outlines of this plan in May 2024” he emphasized. Biden clarified that Israel will negotiate the next phase of the deal within the next six weeks, while the US will be part of the first phase.

He also clarified that the agreement will last as long as the negotiations last.

“In the past few days my team and my Trump team they spoke as a group” he pointed out.
