“Athens Kallithea FC announces the acquisition of Finnish goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa with free transfer after the end of his contract with HJK Helsinki.
Maenpaa, 40, is a former international with the National Finland, who won the Finland Championship in 2023 with HJK, while in the past he has competed in Serie A with Venezia, the English Championship with Brighton & Hove and Bristol City, and In the Dutch Eredivisie with Willem II and VVV-Venlo.
Born in Espo in Finland, Maenpaa was elected by the academies of the local FC Kasiysi and HJK Helsinki local teams, and at the age of 18 he went abroad to join RC Lens in France before making the first big jump in his career in his career in the Netherlands.
In the summer of 2006, Maenpaa signed with FC Den Bosch in the second division of the Netherlands, recording 67 championships during the three -season championship. Maenpaa’s performance secured him a transfer to Eredivisie with Willem II, where he scored 18 championships during two seasons. After a season with AZ Alkmaar, Maenpaa became a key to VVV-Venlo, recording 101 entries in three seasons between Eredivisie and Erste Divisie.

In February 2021, Maenpaa joined the Venezia FC, quickly taking over the position of the basic and helping the team to win the Serie A, scoring six appearances in the regular season and competing as a basic in all five playoffs. Maenpaa continued by recording 16 appearances in Serie A in 2021/22.
Maenpaa returned to his hometown and HJK in August 2023. In the second half of the 2023 season, Maenpaa counted five appearances in the season that HJK won the championship, as well as a part in the UEFA Europa League and six appearances in the UEFA Conference League.
