Today at 12:30, at Agios Dimitrios in Kifissia, the funeral of the veteran goalkeeper of Panathinaikos will be held, Takis Economopouloswho passed on Monday (10/2) of life at the age of 81, nine days after the severe stroke.
From 10am the body of Takis Economopoulos, the greatest goalkeeper in the history of Greek football, will be exposed to a popular pilgrimage.
Career
He started football from the alanas and in 1959 joined the Kallithea Athletic Association. He stayed there for just a few months, when he was transferred to Apollo Athens at the age of 16, where he acquired him with 5,000 drachmas, at the urging of Aristides Kamara.
In 1962 he went to Progressive as a living consideration for the transfer of Yiannis Varamenti to Apollo Athens and in 1963 to Panathinaikos, where he was his main goalkeeper for 13 consecutive years. In 1965 he set a big record, keeping his home intact for 1,088 minutes, from January 17th to May 27th.
In 1976 he moved to Patras for Panachaic, with the colors of which he fought for a year, scoring 25 entries.
In 1977 he returned to Apollo Athens, with whose jersey ended his career in 1979.
National
Its debut with Greece took place on October 3, 1965 in the home match against the Soviet Union for the 1966 World Cup qualifiers. He competed 25 times with the coat of arms from 1965 to 1974.
