The counterattack passed ATPwhich did not leave the PTPA allegations unanswered and the lawsuit he made. In fact, he stressed that since its founding in 1990, it has contributed decisively to both tennis evolution and increased profits.
Still, it was logical, he left a spike for PTPA, referring to a body that has not given the sport since it was set up in 2020, accusing him of disorienting public opinion with false events.
In detail the ATP announcement:
“Since the establishment of the ATP Tour in 1990, the ATP has played a leading role in the global development of professional men’s tennis. In more than three decades, ATP’s 50-50 governance structure has ensured that players and tournaments have an equal voice in shaping the direction of the sport at the highest level.
In recent years it has brought about transformative changes for players. The introduction of a type of money prizes, which have also been a record in this sector, as well as the new and expanded bonus pools have contributed to a significant increase in players’ compensation ($ 70 million in the last five years). The introduction of annual, independent controls gave players complete transparency of tournament finances in ATP events. ATP’s Baseline program introduced a minimal guaranteed income for players in the Top 250 in the single ranking, providing unprecedented financial security to professional tennis. Contributions to the players’ pension fund increased sharply, while money prizes at ATP Challenger Tour events were more than doubled – enhancing ATP’s commitment to enhance the course of the players.
These developments have been achieved through the structure of ATP’s rule, with every basic decision to be taken with the contribution of the players and by their elected representatives. In the meantime, players – as independent – maintain extensive control of their program, having the flexibility of fighting, training and taking advantage of their careers as they find themselves appropriate.
While the ATP remained focused on implementing multiple players, PTPA has consistently selected division and disorientation through misinformation instead of progress. Five years after its founding in 2020, PTPA has found it difficult to establish a meaningful role in tennis, making its decision to take legal action at this juncture unexpected.
We strongly reject the assumption of PTPA’s claims, we believe that the case is completely unfounded and will strongly defend our position. ATP remains committed to working in the interest of the game – to continuous growth, financial stability and the best future for our players, tournaments and fans. “
