A fine of Brutsi to the Weightlifting Federation for eight doping cases in one year!

By a decision by Yiannis Broutsis, a fine was imposed on the Weightlifting Federation, due to eight doping cases in one year.

In fact, the Minister of Sport made the move to withhold 20% (ie 48.008.52 euros) from the regular grant given to the federation (240.042.62 €).

The announcement:

Fine 48,000 € In the Weightlifting Federation for eight doping cases in one year!

By decision of the Minister of Sports, Yiannis Broutsis, a percentage is withheld 20%ie 48.008.52 €from the regular grant of the weightlifting federation for 2025 (total height 240.042.62 €).

THE Sports ministerhaving regard to:

*The multicultural evaluation of the “Thousand” system and the gravity contributors to criteria, hypocrites and indicators (including “positive samples” in anti -doping), from which the overall ranking for the annual regular grant of sports federations,

*The recommendation of the National Organization for Doping for the “application of the provisions of article 12 of Law 4791/2021 on sanctions on sports bodies”,

*The relevant recommendation of the services of the Ministry of Sports,

He activated, for the first time, the additional disciplinary actions and fines provided for, following the ratification of the revised anti -doping code of the World Anti -Doping Organization (WADA), in the Board of Directors of which Mr Broutsis, as a representative of the European Union, is involved.

According to Article 12 (2.2 and 3), the “withholding of part or all funding” is indicated, provided that eight or more violations of anti -doping rules have been committed by athletes or other persons linked to a specific National Federation during a period of 12 months.

In the present case, the Federation of Weightlifting has found that eight violations of the rules of anti -doping have been committed from 15/12/2023 (the date of the first check that resulted in a non -resulting detailed finding) until 06/12/2024 (the date of the last audit).

Four of these violations have already been finalized (with athlete exclusion penalties 3 years, 2 years, 4 years and 2 years, respectively) and the other four have been officially notified by the EAKA infringement (with an athlete exclusion penalties 10 months, 12 years, 12 years).
