Silver Medal at the U17 World Wrestling Championship

In the 71kg final at the U17 World Championships in Ano Liosia, Dimitris Soulis lost 3-1 by Uzbeko Behruzbek Valliev, who won the last two years of gold medals in the Pan-Hellenic Championships.

The Greek champion was determined in the race and, under the cheers of the spectators, gave his best in the tap. The final was extremely ambiguous and the gold medal was judged in the details, with Valiev leading 1-0 and 3-0. Soulis tried to counterattack and responded, reducing to 3-1, but Uzbec wrestler took advantage of his experience and managed to reach the victory and the first step of the podium.

With his appearance, Soulis proved that he rightly reached the final of the class and it is certain that in the future he will bring significant successes to Greek colors.

As for the girls of the Greek mission who started their races on Wednesday, Dimitra Skouvaki (49k) was winning the event as she dominated the Turkala Melike Coparan 4-2. In her second race, the Greek champion faced the Japanese son of the Kataka, who won with technical superiority and then qualified for the final of the event.

Consequently, Skouvaki will play on Thursday in the rebels and will continue her career to claim the bronze medal.

Polyxeni Chrysikaki (73k) also lost to Canadian Jolina Hiley, while Zoe Kaidopoulou (57k) was defeated by Alina Baroeva (a group of independent athletes) with technical superiority, as was Vaso Karavanou (65). 10-2.

Finally, Katerina Katsofori (43k) suffered a defeat by falling from Kazaka Inzu Bakoza.
