In the creation of a specific framework for action, with the aim of equal access to the people with disabilities to ports and ships, the Ministry of Maritime and Island Policy decided to proceed with the ESMA, the port representatives and the ferry companies, at a wide -ranging meeting held by the Ministry of Politics, Claus Kikilia.
Central axis of the action frame is training special training program For all those who work in coasting (seafarers, port staff, shipping agencies and offices, etc.), with the aim of continuously training them to ensure equal movement and effective service of people with disabilities in maritime transport.
The Minister of Maritime and Island Policy, Vassilis Kikilias, said: “We are proceeding with a specific action plan, with the main focus on education, so people with disabilities have truly equal access to ports and ships. Our goal is to draw up all employees who come into contact with the passenger public so that they can respond adequately and respect the needs of our fellow citizens. This initiative is part of the Ministry’s strategy for a non -excluding ferry and is based on three key pillars: the training, the cooperation of all stakeholders and respect for rights. In this way, we form a framework for action that enhances the social dimension of shipping and serves all citizens equally. “
