The developments surrounding the murder of Stavros Demosthenos in Limassol, a case that shocks the whole of Cyprus and has put the Police on alert, are fast-paced. After intensive investigations, the investigators of the TAE Limassol handcuffed on Saturday night a 45-year-old Greek Cypriot from Nicosia, against whom an arrest warrant had been issued. The man is considered a key person, as he is the owner of a motorcycle that was found hidden in an area of eastern Limassol and appears to be connected to the escape motorcycle of the perpetrators.
The motorcycle was taken to the Limassol Police Department for scientific tests, with the findings expected to shed light.
According to information, the suspect interrogated made various allegations regarding the possession and use of the motorcycle, which are being evaluated by the investigators of the TAE Limassol.
The 45-year-old is expected to be arraigned today, Sunday, before the District Court of Limassolwhere the Police will request his arrest to facilitate investigations.
At the same time, the actions for detection and capture and other persons who may be involved in the case.
As reported by filenews, a second vehicle has also been put under the microscope of the investigatorswhich is estimated to have been used by the perpetrators to escape after the murder. Researches are expanding in all directions, while Police are reviewing CCTV footage surveillance in various parts of the city, looking for evidence that will lead to the full investigation of the crime.
It is recalled that the perpetrators, after the execution of Stavros Demosthenos, left and set fire to the van they used during the commission of the crime, in order to eliminate their traces.
According to the investigators’ estimates, then they escaped with a large displacement and dark colored scooter.
The next 24 hours are considered decisive for the progress of the investigations, as well as the analysis of the evidence and the possibility of new arrests.
It is recalled that yesterday an autopsy was performed on the victim’s body at the Nicosia General Hospital, by the medical examiner Nikolas Charalambous. According to our information, at least two bullets found the victim in the head, while based on the findings of the medical examiner, the death is due to a severe craniocerebral injury caused by firearm bullets.

Time stopped around 09:30 on Friday morning, when Stavros Dimosthenous received a barrage of fire while he was inside a luxury rental vehicle, in the passenger seat, about 500 meters from his home, in the area of Sfalangiotissa. The vehicle was driven by his 18-year-old son, when during their journey, a white van entered in front of them and interrupted their journeyforcing the young man to slow down. Then, the doors of the van opened and one of the attackers started shooting aimed at Demosthenes, managing to fatally wound him.
Having completed their mission, the perpetrators they fled, leaving the scene. A few minutes later, a vehicle with the same description was spotted on fire in the Germasogeia area. The tests showed that it is the same vehicle that was used in the execution. As established by police investigations, the van had been reported stolen on September 4 in the Nicosia province.
Immediately after the attack, the victim’s son, despite the shock he suffered, tried to drive and take his father to the hospital. As he was moving on the highway, at the height of Tsireios, their vehicle was involved in a traffic accident, as a result of which it was immobilized. According to reliable information from “F”, the 18-year-old was stopped by a passing citizen asked to transfer them to the Limassol General Hospital. The citizen responded immediately, but by the time the victim arrived at the hospital, he was already dead. The same sources state that Demosthenes received at least two bullets in the head.
