Interesting aspects of his tenure in AEK revealed o Marco Livagia. In an interview with «Dalmatian Portal», the Croat reported that they treated him well in the “Union” and characterized fair the offer made to him for Contract renewal.
He explained, however, that after a while he no longer wanted to continue with the yellow and black, characterizing as the beginning of this mood some disagreements he had with Massimo Carrera.
He stressed, however, that still maintains relations with AEK, claiming that “The vice president and the leader are still sending me messages to come back” and that he even has an invitation for na watch closely the derby with PAOK.
Detailed what Livagia said about AEK
How did you spend it in Greece?
“I had a good time in Las Palmas, I had a good season and then I spent 3.5 exceptional years at AEK. At AEK, when we won the championship, we did not have the best team, but we made a big winning streak. You enter every match with the goal of victory and we reached 28 matches without defeat. We had a lot of players with character.
There was no terrible atmosphere in the locker rooms, but nothing came out. We respected each other, we all had the feeling that we were going to do something. I strongly believe in a winner mentality. Juventus in Italy, for example, has it. “When they need the victory, you know they will get it.”
Is winning the Greek championship the only trophy in your career?
“Yes”.
Can you compare the fans in Greece and Croatia?
“Things are crazier there, but the mentality is the same, they are really fanatical. “Maybe they are a little more involved in basketball in Greece compared to football, but when the good results started the stadiums were full and we had tremendous support.”.
What was your status there?
“I was treated well. Even today, the vice president of the club and the leader send me messages asking me to return. I have an invitation to go to Greece and watch the match against PAOK closely (on January 9), but it will be difficult for me to leave “.
How did your transfer from AEK to Hajduk come about?
“I was at home for Christmas and on January 1, 2021, President Luka Jakubusic called me and asked if I had a chance to come. I replied that this could not be done because they would not let me go with a contract for another six months.
I was then in negotiations with AEK for the expansion of our cooperation. They were fair in terms of the contract, they offered me a new one for five years. Since then, 25 days have passed and I had some disagreements with the previous coach at AEK (s.s. Carrera) and I no longer wanted to renew my contract.
There was interest from me from Turkey and they thought it was a matter of money, but that was not true. As beautiful as I was there, I wanted to change something in my life.
Then the president of Hajduk called me again and asked me if there was a case for me to get a transfer. I said, “Let’s try it, why not?” In the meantime, the coach with whom I had won the championship, returned to AEK and begged me to continue, but my mind was no longer there. I no longer wanted to stay at AEK. “Negotiations for my departure began and lasted ten days.”
It is said that you gave up claiming money to come to Hajduk …
“Yes, I left some money, but the most important thing was to play. I could have taken from AEK what belonged to me under a contract, but I knew I would not be happy. And not playing for six months is a long time. I thought that the scenario to leave AEK was not realistic and that they would not let me leave before the end of the season. In the end, however, we managed to resolve the issue and sign for Hajduk. “
