AEK announced five cases of coronavirus in view of the match with Aris.
The “yellow-blacks” announced that they did not travel to Thessaloniki obligatorily and ask the Thessalonians to postpone the match.
In detail, the announcement:
«With a sense of social responsibility, AEK announces that five members of the women’s volleyball team were positively diagnosed in COVID-19. The other members will be constantly subjected to the necessary examinations, while all the provisions are followed, according to the Health protocol of EODY. It goes without saying that the preparation of our team is interrupted until further notice.
Unfortunately, due to a special provision of EOPE, we can not travel to Thessaloniki to play with the opposing team and we are forced to stay in Athens, although the other athletes are healthy and vaccinated.
Regardless of this provision, with a sense of responsibility and respect for the protocols of EODY, we asked EOPE to postpone the match and referred us to the team of Aris.
It is obvious that the transmission of the virus to female athletes of our team, has been caused by members of another team that we came across, precisely because the members of our team were not protected from “close contact”.
Therefore, in order to protect the athletes and executives of our team and the team of Aris Thessaloniki and in order not to alter the order of the matches of the Championship, we propose to hold the match on another date.
We want to believe that as we respect our opponent and did not hide the reality, there will be the corresponding respect from the historical club of Aris Thessaloniki and he will not want to take the match on paper. We are waiting for his answer immediately “.
