2021 is a year of very clear rise in public interest in acquiring a new and safe car, due to the inelastic need created not only by the previous years of the economic crisis of our country, but also by the effects of the global pandemic. Thus, although the current problem in the global automotive industry with the lack of semiconductors (chips) has led to a reduction in production and delays in deliveries to their new owners, there is a great demand in the car market for new corporate vehicles and leasing, to meet the multiple needs of companies and their executives. In the sales figures, there is currently an increase of 11.6% in the corporate registrations in the 8 months of 2021 compared to the corresponding period of 2020, however the demand is much higher. According to our information, there are many thousands of new leases and corporate cars waiting to be delivered to their new owners in the coming months, regularly and always based on the currently limited production schedule of the factories, which we repeat has led to delays. deliveries worldwide. But what are the reasons that have led the choice of leasing to become one of the main pillars of growth of the car market even in the global pandemic?
Leasing equals multiple advantages
The main advantage of leasing is the unlimited possibilities it offers to the one who will choose it. In a market that is still trying to find solutions with the deliveries of new models, leasing continues to stand out, having great flexibility in the choice of model, features and equipment of the car, without requiring compromises that could happen in case of buying the car. Of course, leasing avoids the high cost of buying a car, while there is also a complete exemption from operating costs, road tax, mixed insurance, maintenance and change of tires, as all of these are included in the rent paid by the landlord each month. Another important advantage of leasing is the fact that the acquisition of the car is easy and fast, without time-consuming bureaucratic procedures, since they are carried out by the leasing company that will acquire the car.
The user has the opportunity to enjoy a brand new car every few years, which is modern, technologically advanced and most importantly, safe for him and his family. In addition, the lease includes insurance coverage (gross) for everything that happens in the car for the entire rental period, while in case of damage or accident, a replacement car is provided immediately, allowing the driver to continue his normal movements. Finally, an important advantage of leasing is the stability in the cost of using the car, since the user does not worry about emergencies, accidents, mechanical failures, etc., allowing him to better plan his expenses.
But apart from the user, leasing offers much more advantages to a company, as it allows it to own company vehicles without essentially a costly fleet management, while at the same time, compared to the market, it does not require the immediate disbursement of a a large amount for the acquisition of these cars, thus enabling it to use the capital for some other need. When concluding a leasing contract, there are some small details that every business, professional or individual should take into account. Initially, the company with which it will cooperate plays a big role. It should have extensive experience in the field of leasing, high technical level of its executives and know-how on the subject, but also to provide quick and easy support to the client during the lease. Also, before the final selection, the client-landlord should do a proper research and see the prices that apply to the leasing of the car that interests him per company, in order to finally ensure the amount of the monthly rent that really it benefits. Finally, the tenant should be fully informed about the benefits and conditions in his contract, so that there are no “surprises” during the lease.
Additional tax benefits for the user and the business
In the new era of leasing in Greece and its development, the role was played by the rationalization of the taxation of corporate vehicle users that is valid from 2020 and stipulates that the calculation of the concession value always based on the Retail Price Before Tax (LTPF) of the vehicle is done on a steep slope and not on the basis of a single factor, as was the case before. This in practice means less and fairer burden on the taxable income of the user. Beneficiaries come out as long as they use a car with LTPF up to 17,000 euros, since the value of the concession for the user and the burden on his taxable income is low, while the burden is even lower if he chooses a small car with LTPF up to 14,000 euros. In addition, it is now possible to choose a company car, which ensures even a complete exemption from the burden of the user’s income, if this car has CO2 emissions of up to 50 g / km. and LTPF up to 40,000 euros. This brings to the fore the so-called “clean” vehicles and more specifically most of the purely electric cars on the market, as well as many plug-in hybrids (they also charge from the socket), which also have CO2 emissions of up to 50 g ./χλμ. There are also tax breaks for companies that will choose a company car with CO2 emissions up to 50 g / km. and LTPF that does not exceed 40,000 euros, since an additional deduction of 30% of the value of the vehicle from their gross income has been introduced. The same discount also applies to the purchase, installation and operation of publicly accessible charging points for vehicles of zero or low emissions up to fifty (50) g CO2 / km. Based on all the above, it is understood – that a company vehicle user benefits from buying a car with low or zero CO2 emissions (with LTP always up to 40,000 euros), as it allows him to completely avoid the “thorn” of the annual income increase resulting from the use of a company vehicle with an internal combustion engine (or higher pollutants and price).
