Opinion – Juca Kfouri: There is more than one writing at stake in Itaquera

by

Will this Sunday (22) be the end of Corinthians’ invincibility in their new stadium against São Paulo?

There are ten wins and five draws, 28 goals scored against 12, a writing started on September 21, 2014, almost eight years have gone by.

According to Probability Theory, it is possible to bet that each Majestic is closer to the day of victory for the tricolors because, let’s face it, such an imbalance is not normal between such balanced teams.

It is true that in the last three meetings, without fans due to the pandemic, São Paulo did not take advantage of the chance, although they left with two draws.

In addition to Itaquera, another character common to the 15 Majestic is goalkeeper Cássio.

Even in the famous 6-1 of 2015, when the alvinegro entered the field already a six-time Brazilian champion and, therefore, without starting all the holders, it was he who was in the host goal.

There is another writing at stake, however, however and nevertheless: Corinthians has not won a state classic for five games, all of which will be played in this 2022 season.

Lost to Santos, in Itaquera, fired Sylvinho and hired Vítor Pereira, who lost twice to this Sunday’s opponent and twice to Palmeiras.

Since 1959 it has not happened that Corinthians has been defeated in five straight classics, and it remains to be seen whether this Probability Theory has more sympathy for the breaking of the writing in Itaquera or for this more recent one.

It is evident that single-fan games strongly collaborate for the home factor to prevail and it seems that we will live with this from now on in São Paulo, unless, one day, we have authorities capable of solving the issue of violence without banning, banning and to forbid—because for that it is enough to have the power, instead of the knowledge.

Everything indicates that the two teams will play with maximum force because São Paulo is qualified to go ahead in the Copa Sudamericana and can rule out the game on Wednesday (25), against the Peruvians of Ayacucho, in Morumbi.

And Corinthians, despite having to beat their next opponent for Libertadores, the Bolivians of Always Ready, will only play against them, and again at home, on Thursday (26), with plenty of time to recover all the players.

Vítor Pereira knows that the satisfaction with the point brought in by Buenos Aires will go up in the air if the sixth defeat happens.

Just as Rogério Ceni is well aware of the size of the trauma in Itaquera, despite being spared the embarrassment of 6-1 and having only participated, as a goalkeeper, in one of the 15 games of writing, in 2015, 2-0, for Libertadores. Because he participated in two other Majestic ones, a draw and a defeat, as a São Paulo coach, in 2017, just as when directing Fortaleza in Itaquera, he lost once and drew another.

In other words, Ceni never left the stadium on the east side with the three points and, again, he has to rely on the Theory of Probability.

Whoever wins, if anyone wins, will finish the seventh round of the Brazilian Championship in the lead, which still won’t mean much, but it’s always better than being on the bottom. It will be the game of the leader against the third place.

Both teams have been using the base unceremoniously, which is very healthy; Corinthians has more talented players, and São Paulo has Calleri in great shape.

May the writing be broken. How?

Corinthians and São Paulo know.
