This week’s new meteor shower could light up the night sky with stars hovering over Britain.

It is called Tau Heracles, and if so, it will give astronomy enthusiasts a chance to witness history.

Tau Herculids is based on a comet called 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann (or just SW3) that split up in 2006.

These parts have already reached Earth and ignited as meteorites when they entered our atmosphere.

They fly into the atmosphere at a speed of 10 miles per second (actually very slow for a meteorite) from heat to evaporation.

Their website is the best in North America, but in the UK you might see some Tau Hercules.

Tau Herculids: When will I be able to see the meteor shower?

Calculations show that the peaks of this new meteor shower will be tonight and tomorrow night, on May 30, 2022, and May 31, 2022.

The best time is early in the morning, from midnight to sunrise.

For the best chance, you generally have to go out and watch from 4:45 am to 5:17 pm

If a meteor shower happens, you can see it. About 1,000 meteors light up the sky every hour.

Technically, it goes beyond the meteor shower and becomes a meteor shower.

Tau Herculids: “All or Nothing” Meteor Shower

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that Tau Heracles will happen.

This is because it depends on what happened to SW3.

The comet was first discovered in 1930 and was very faint. But in 1995 it increased 100 times. Experts thought it was fragmentary.

This was confirmed in 2006, the closest transition period to Earth. Astronomers identified more than 70 pieces of debris and found that they are still fragmented.

And this is caused by the constant collapse of whether we get the show for the next few nights.

“It will be all or nothing.” “If the SW3 debris moved faster than 220 mph from the comet, we might see the meteor shower,” said Birckook, head of NASA’s Weather Agency.

“If the debris is slowly released, nothing will reach Earth and there will be no meteorites from this comet.”

Tau Heracles: Where can I see the meteor?

The origin of the meteor shower in the sky is called its brightness.

In this case, it should radiate a little to the west of the constellation of Hercules.

Use the Skyscan app to find Heracles or look very closely to the southeast between the stars of Vega and Arcturus.

It’s nice to find radioactivity, but meteors can appear anywhere during the shower, so monitor the entire sky.

It’s best to leave about 30 minutes early to allow your eyes to adjust to the dark.

Fortunately, there is no moonlight tonight (because it is a new moon), so the viewing conditions are correct.

Now we hope that this really happens.
