In Egypt, a large number of ancient treasures have been found in archaeological sites.

Some 250 painted sarcophagi, including well-preserved mummies, are among the 2,500-year-old discoveries at the Sakara cemetery near Cairo.

The bronze statues and vessels of the 150 gods displayed under the canvas were used in ceremonies in honor of the goddess of birth, Isis.

One of the headless statues is believed to represent Imhotep, the chief architect of Pharaoh Djoser, who ruled ancient Egypt between 2630 and 2611.

The collection on display next to the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Sakara will eventually be housed in the Grand Egyptian Museum. It is under construction near the Pyramid of Giza.
