If you look at the sky last night, you might notice that the moon looked particularly big and bright.
This is because last June there was a full moon called the Strawberry Moon.
It is also the so-called “supermoon”, where the moon’s neighbors in the sky appear larger and brighter than usual.
A supermoon occurs when the full moon occurs, when the moon is in orbit and closest to the Earth. This is called the perigee of the moon.
The moon’s orbit around the earth is elliptical, so the distance between the moon and the earth varies. As a result, this creates a random supermoon that can make the moon appear larger and brighter than usual.
That’s why we got the Super Strawberry Moon that fills the night sky.
To top it off, there was a very clear situation in much of Britain last night, which made the show even more spectacular.
Photographers from around the world were out last night and early this morning to take the best pictures of the Super Strawberry Moon.
These are some of our favorites:
When to see the Super Strawberry Moon in the UK
The full moon reached its “peak” in the UK Tuesday, June 14, 12:51pm BST ..
The “peak” full moon was observed during daylight hours, because it was technically the exact moment when the Sun and Moon were on the other side of the globe.
This can occur at any time of the day or night and is known as the “burning heat” of the Sun-Earth-Moon system.
Fortunately, the Super Strawberry Moon is still a full moon on June 14 and the days before and after, so there are plenty of opportunities to monitor this special lunar event tonight or tomorrow night.
