Ironically, the woman who provided the Australian voice for Apple’s virtual assistant Siri tried to use the technical tools herself.

Karen Jacobsen, a singer-songwriter from North Queensland, Australia, audited Siri in 2002.

That was long before Siri became a worldwide iPhone device. The software was first developed by a company called Nuance before it was acquired by Apple in 2010.

“They were looking for an Australian woman who lived in the northeastern United States. I thought, ‘This is my explanation,'” Jacobsen, a 53-year-old woman, told MailOnline.

Remember that the job took 50 hours to deliver all the raw audio data to Apple, but this was spread over a 4-hour recording slot so his voice wouldn’t get tired.

After all, no one wants a tired-sounding virtual assistant.

But even though it sounds like she has one of the most famous voices in the world, Siri herself doesn’t recognize Karen’s tone.

“My husband can ask him a question, my son can ask him a question. They get the answer, but when I ask, he doesn’t understand me. Hmm. “We’ve been experimenting many times, and this is the strangest thing. she told The Daily Telegraph.

“I don’t think so because I can’t speak clearly, but I have a really good expression. I think it’s definitely confusing.”

Jacobsen, who lived in the United States for 20 years before returning to Australia in 2020, recalled that everything was reflected in the creation of the virtual assistant.

“They came up with every possible combination of grains and cut them up to create a sound system based on the sound of my speech. The stage was extensive,” he said.

Other versions of Siri are available and recorded by other voice actors with different accents. The American female voice Siri, which many set by default, was recorded by Susan Bennett.
