Fixing online scams isn’t always easy, even if it stares you right in the face.

Catfish fishing and sightings can usually be resolved by requesting a video call.

It’s much easier to fool someone with a text or voice call than it is with video calling software like FaceTime or Zoom.

Unfortunately, nothing is perfect. If you’re building relationships online, you need to know how to handle video calls.

Basically, video call fraud means using a program or app to change what is displayed on your webcam during a call.

In most cases, this may include video recording and playback instead of the actual face. For example, a person sitting in a meeting who doesn’t need to speak can simply drag the video onto the screen while doing something else.

For example, an app called ManyCam allows users to customize the insertion of their webcam into the video calling app of their choice. So you can replace your FaceTime or Zoom camera with YouTube or another pre-recorded video.

It becomes more difficult if the goal is to speak directly to others.

It’s time for you to start entering the realm of deepfakes. There, other likenesses and human voices are used to trick the other party into the call.

Deepfake requires a lot of computing power, so we often use only very serious hacks. However, there are some common flaws to be aware of.

  • ხარისხი Video quality : Unlike modern webcam conferences, fake video quality can be caused by improper data transfer. If it looks grainy or the video crashes frequently, it could be a giveaway.
  • Cut and jump: If a deepfake struggles to hold it, the person may jump or temporarily freeze.
  • Video size: For fake video calls, you may need to resize the chat window to fit the software you are using. If distortion doesn’t feel right to you, it might be time to think twice.
  • contact address : Does the contact name of the person who called you match the details you saved for them? Your phone will need to remove this from your phone, so be careful if the details on the screen are wrong (the name may be wrong).
  • Improper timing: Properly inspect the video and audio portions of the calling line. If your lips move and you don’t hear anything after a few seconds, it may indicate that you are dealing with what is happening to your lips.

Of course, there are many apps that allow you to change yourself using filters. It may not be a complete deepfake, but you can change things like skin color, eye color, etc. and give people the right to make sure they are different.
