Three arrested for child pornography

Police officers of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate investigated and solved three cases related to the individual offenses of child pornography and attempting to attract children for sexual reasons.

In particular, a 41-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested as part of the spontaneous procedure, for pornography of minors, while a regular procedure file was filed for attempting to attract children for sexual reasons against a 37-year-old, who was also arrested as a conviction was pending against him.

In more detail, in case of the 37-year-olda mother of a minor reported that a social media user approached her daughter with the intention of having sex with a friend of his for money.

In the other cases, the investigations were carried out in the context of international police cooperation to deal with the phenomenon of child pornography.

In particular, internet users, through specific electronic traces, gained access to various websites – applications and had at their disposal for sharing a number of files with material of sexual abuse of minors.

The above facts were brought to the attention of the competent prosecuting authorities and relevant decrees were issued to remove the confidentiality of the communications. This was followed by an analysis of the evidence and digital data of the cases and after correspondence with the service providers, the electronic traces of the people involved emerged.

In this context, on July 8, 11 and 13, searches were carried out at their homes, where a laptop computer, 2 internal hard drives, 3 mobile phones and a USB stick were found and confiscated.

From the on-site investigation carried out on the digital evidence of the 37-year-old, his involvement in illegal activity was identified, while at the same time it was established that he had a pending conviction for child pornography, which is why he was arrested. In the cases of the 41-year-old and the 15-year-old, they were arrested as a lot of material (photos and videos) of minor pornography was found.

The digital evidence was seized and will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination, while those arrested were taken to the competent prosecutorial authorities.
