Ukraine: Pro-Russian separatists blocked on Google search engine ‘because it promotes violence’

by

“Google promotes terrorism and violence against all Russians, especially against the population of Donbas…”

“block” in the Google search engine imposed by the authorities of the two pro-Russian separatist regions in eastern Ukraine. As they announced, they blocked access to the world’s largest search engine on the charge that it “promotes” violence and fake news against Russians.

Google “promotes terrorism and violence against all Russians, especially against the population of Donbas… We have decided to block Google on the ground” of the Donetsk region, separatist leader Denis Pushilin said in a statement today.

“If Google ceases to follow its criminal policy and again complies with the law, ethics and common sense, then there is no obstacle to its activities,” he added.
Yesterday, the leader of the neighboring separatist region of Luhansk, Leonid Pasetsnik, announced that he had taken the same measure.

“War, it is not only the missiles that hit our cities but a crowd false information that Ukraine sends us. Alas, Google has become their main weapon,” he said. “We can do without Google. If they improve, if they start respecting citizens, then we will consider restoring” the search engine, he added.

Pro-Russian separatist authorities in eastern Ukraine, like Russia, have been trying to tighten their control over information since Moscow’s operation against Ukraine began in late February.
