The central factory in Zhengzhou, which employs about 200,000 people, is out of order due to the implementation of measures against the spread of COVID-19
Apple Inc said it expects shipments of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max smartphones to be lower than previously estimated, as COVID-19 restrictions have caused temporary problems to curtail production at a factory in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou.
“The factory unit is currently operating with a significantly reduced production capacity,” as stated in a statement by Apple. “Our customers will need to wait for a longer period of time in order to receive the new products,” added the company.
Reuters reported last month that Apple’s iPhone production will drop by about 30% at one of the world’s largest factories next month due to China’s anti-Covid restrictions.
The central factory unit in Zhengzhou, in which about 200,000 people work is malfunctioning due to the implementation of measures against the spread of COVID-19, with several employees leaving it.
