Twitter is hiring, says Musk on social network

Elon Musk posted this Sunday (27) on his Twitter account slides of a presentation where he shows that the company is hiring. The tweet comes after a layoff of approximately 7,500 employees at big tech.

The post has four slides. In the first, a text says “we are recruiting”, without citing data. It then claims an average new user growth of 2 million per day between November 9th and 16th. The other images show an increase in time spent on the network and monetization and a decrease in hate speech.

In the final images, he cites recent Twitter updates, such as messages with more layers of protection and its new verification format.

The new service, priced at $8 a month, will allow users to have a smaller, secondary logo for their organizations, Musk said in another tweet on Friday. “Longer explanation next week.”

Employee cutbacks were not unique to big tech. Amazon and Meta, which owns Facebook, also made layoffs. In total, technology companies add up to more than 30,000 cuts this month.

Meta announced on November 9 a reduction of 13% of its team, which represents more than 11 thousand employees. The mass layoffs were the first in the company’s 18 years and come amid Facebook’s struggle with rising costs and a weak advertising market.

On November 16, Amazon dismissed employees of the unit responsible for the virtual assistant, Alexa. The plan also involves cutting 10,000 jobs, including in the retail and human resources divisions.
