Microsoft warns: China, Iran, North Korea and Turkey exploit “software vulnerability” on internet

by

Hackers linked to the governments of China, Iran, North Korea and Turkey have set out to exploit a critical flaw in the software used by major tech companies around the world, Microsoft warned late Tuesday.

According to the company, the activity of the foreign hacking teams includes experimentation with “vulnerability, integration into existing hacking tools” and “exploitation of goals to achieve the goals”. Microsoft did not say which organizations have been targeted by hackers. Could not contact a representative directly for comment.

The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Service recently reported that software problems can affect hundreds of millions of devices worldwide.

While U.S. officials are on alert for the “software bug,” Eric Goldstein, a senior CISA official, told reporters Tuesday afternoon that there was no evidence that federal networks had been compromised using the vulnerability.

Microsoft has joined a group of major cybersecurity companies by sounding the alarm that suspicious foreign spy teams have rushed to troubleshoot the software.
