After several tests Google seems to be getting closer to launching its first foldable phone sometime this year. A source familiar with the matter told 9to5Google that the Pixel Fold will be quite a heavy device, but the good news is that it will have the largest battery in a foldable phone to date.
In particular, the good excuse for the Pixel Fold’s weight seems to be a significantly larger battery than competitors. 9to5Google has learned that the battery size will be closer to 5,000 mAh (milliamperor – possibly 4,700 mAh).
In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 Samsung’s has a battery capacity of 4,400 mAh, while the Oppo Find N2 has 4,520 mAh.
Battery life on foldables isn’t always great so far, with slimmer designs often requiring compromises in battery capacity.
With Google aiming for a bigger battery, it could be a point that differentiates the device from other foldables. However, there is one issue. The
differences in the efficiency of the Google Tensor G2 processor (made by Samsung) compared to the Snapdragon processors used by other brands, and especially the new “ultra-efficient” in terms of consumption Snapdragon 8 Gen 2may result in this advantage being moot…
