Artificial intelligence is the topic that is increasingly being discussed and is gaining ground in everyday life. By the term AI, Artificial Intelligence, we mean the ability of a computer system to imitate human cognitive functions, i.e. to learn and solve problems. And one of the companies that has been driving people crazy lately is Open Al, which released an app in November 2022, ChatGPT(Generative Pre-trained Transformer). This particular AI application enables dialogue, gives answers and writes texts relatively quickly.

Open Al, which recently partnered with Microsoft, which invests millions in artificial intelligence, is headed by 37-year-old Sam Altman.

Sam Altman Profile

When he announced the partnership with Microsoft two weeks ago, it might have been the most important news he announced in his career:

“Open AI and Microsoft have been working together for more than three years. With our partner we have created an artificial intelligence that is safe and will have a positive impact on society,” he says.

Sam Altman

Microsoft’s Bing search engine is going to be powered by artificial intelligence in the future, which is also the basis of the Chat GPT chatbot.

But who is Sam Altman? He is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He started programming and taking apart computers at the age of eight. At sixteen, he admitted that he was gay, which was not easy, so he often resorted to virtual chatrooms. He studied computer science at the prestigious Stanford University, but dropped out. In 2014, Sam Altman became the president of Y-Combinator, an almost legendary company in Silicon Valley, and in 2015 he co-founded Open AI with Elon Musk.

An application open to all

A company that says it wants to research and develop artificial intelligence as a non-profit company. It also states that it wants to protect against risks that may come from artificial intelligence in the future, and to ensure that as many people as possible have access to it.

“Every technological revolution eliminates jobs and creates new ones. In ten years I believe we will have chatbots working for an expert in any field you want. For example, I will be able to make an animated film. Artificial intelligence will solve repetitive problems and partly be creative. A lot will change!”

That a lot will change is the only thing certain. The question is in which direction.
