“Add color to your life”… Google as if… knew the old Greek advertising slogan, with its Android operating system changing (even more), and becoming more “personal” with “bold” colors, called “Fidelity”, in new 14th version of the operating system, due in August.

The announcement was actually made by the Google team itself, Google Design. “Color is a personal thing. Why design as if everyone sees color the same way?’ says Google on its Twitter account, quoting videos with much more intense, vivid colors.

The name “Fidelity” it refers to the user’s choices, based on the Material You design, which will be more… faithful than today in reality.

As things stand today, the user has the option of choosing colors from the mobile’s backgrounds (wallpapers) which are transferred to the icons and/or the applications themselves, giving a homogeneous style and a more personal tone of customization. The downside is that often the primary colors look more or less the same, as the operating system “interprets” the vivid colors of the backgrounds in pastel shades.

For Android 14, the Material Design team will enable significantly bolder Material You colors so that your preferred base color is used directly in the final theme. The Google Design team posted a related video on Twitter showing a much bolder color palette than is currently possible with Material You.
