Forget the “snake” and the insecticide and grab your… mobile phone to repel mosquitoes thanks to the application of 26-year-old Greek developer Christos Apostolos.

As 26-year-old Christos Apostolou explains, by pressing a button, a sound file and percussive sounds are activated from the mobile phone’s speaker that cannot be perceived by the human ear due to the special frequencies.

However, the frequencies of the transmitted file are particularly annoying to mosquitoes and cockroaches. The application covers a space of about 9 square meters and does not need an Internet connection.

According to Mr. Apostolou, the sound is unwanted by over 60 species of mosquitoes and the success rate exceeds 80%, according to user reviews.

Over 90k users have downloaded it so far, and with the cockroach plugin uploaded just two days ago, it’s over 100,000 downloads!

The app, named “Ksou – Ksou”, is based on recent five-year research, and repels mosquitoes through frequencies that can range from 12 to 200HZ.

The human ear does not perceive these frequencies, and if we can understand something from 100 Hz and beyond, we can lower the volume of the mobile phone.

“There is a variety of frequencies because there are many exogenous factors such as temperature, humidity and air,” he stressed.

And this is not the only application of Christos Apostolos. “All my apps are free,” he pointed out.
