A couple had nightmarish hours in Sydney, Australia, when they saw all the money they had saved a lifetime to buy a house disappear from their bank account following an online scam.
According to the Daily Mail, Cassie and Dennis Avil were in the final stages of buying their new home when they received an email that appeared to be from their lawyer.
The email asked the couple to transfer $ 1.1 million to a bank account to finalize the purchase of the new home.
The couple had just sold their house in order to have more money at their disposal to buy the new home.
“I went to the branch and transferred all our money to find out that it was some kind of fraudulent account,” Cassie cries.

“They said they were not sure if they could bring them back to us.”
So the couple proceeded to transfer the money and called the lawyer to inform him that they had made the payment.
“She just screamed at us on the phone, call the bank right away,” Ms. Ayles recalls.
“I’m not someone who would step on her with – things like that – I see this kind of scams on TV and I say ‘oh, how could they step on it?’
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
It is noted that the e-mail not only mentioned the name of their lawyer but also the company in which he works, but also had attached all the contracts they had signed during the transaction.
Fortunately, the bank managed to “freeze” the money transfer in the end, thanks to the timely mobilization.
