Flirt like it’s the early 2010s.

The possibility “Poke” is back on Facebook — and Gen Z loves it.

In his prime Facebook, poke was all the rage, using the feature as a way to flirtto attract someone’s attention or annoy friends.

In early 2024, Meta redesigned the Poke button to make it more visible.

Just in time for its 20th birthday, the social media company announced on Tuesday that function “Poke” returnsimproving suggestions for who to poke and making the poke page easier to find, TechCrunch reported.

“Poke” technically never left, it was just buried deep in a bunch of settings and almost impossible to find. You would have to search for “poke” in the Facebook search bar or somehow know the unique URL to the Poke page.

In early 2024, Meta redesigned the Poke button to make it more visible, placing the button next to any name a user searched for. It’s also easier to find the Poke page now – typing “poking” or “pokes” into the search bar instead of just “poke”.

It is proved that more people use a feature if they can actually find it. Meta claimed Pokes increased 13x after the redesign.

Meta said over 50% of new Pokes were made by users aged 18 to 29, individuals.
