THE Prada she is going to design her new space suit NASA for the upcoming, long-awaited lunar mission Artemis III in 2026 – the first human landing on the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.

Prada designers and textile specialists are working with the Axiom Space teams to create the new astronaut suits, which will offer Prada’s unsurpassed, classic style and refinement, as well as comfort and safety for the mission crew members.

Artemis and Prada have announced that they will use “innovative technologies and design” to enable “greater exploration of the lunar surface than ever before”.

All that has been made known by NASA is the colour of the outfit – which it probably will be white.

However, a NASA astronaut and engineer said that “people should not expect to see astronauts in fancy suits. Maintaining a good thermal environment is really the critical issue”

For his part, Mike Suffredini, President and CEO of Axiom Space, stated that it will be “an advanced space suit that will allow astronauts to operate safely and efficiently on the moon.

“Axiom Space’s Artemis III spacecraft will be ready to meet the complex challenges of the lunar south pole and help advance our understanding of the moon to enable a long-term presence there.”
