The implementation of the “Smart Readiness Vouchers” Program for the installation of optical fiber is being accelerated
Accelerating the implementation of the program “Smart Readiness Vouchers» for the reinforcement of 120,000 buildings with ultra-high speeds through the installation of optical fiber by the end of 2025, decided the Ministers of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and Environment and Energy Theodore Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis and the Deputy Minister of Environment and Nikos Tagaras of Energy.
In the Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette B’ 3678/ 26.06.2024) it is provided that the National Land Registry Number (K.A.E.K) of the vertical property will now be used to identify the building, which will be filled in automatically by the system , after selecting the building to be subsidized when submitting the Issuance Application “Smart Readiness Vouchers’.
As part of the project works related to the installation of optical fiber networks are granted within the building in order to facilitate the provision of ultra-high-speed broadband services in all areas of the building (apartments, offices, shops, etc.). In addition, with the aim of upgrading the “smart readiness” of buildings, the installation of infrastructure is being promoted for the future interconnection of utility network meters (electricity, natural gas) with the central point of concentration of the building’s electronic communications infrastructure. Also, the necessary preparation is carried out for the installation and communication of appropriate sensors related to safety, the control of good operation and the taking of measurements related to the environmental footprint of the most basic communal facilities of the buildings (central heating boiler room and elevator).
Eligible buildings are single-family homes and multi-family homes that are located within the Intervention Area and do not already have in-building optical cabling. Buildings owned by the State, Public Law Legal Entities (Public Law Legal Entities) and Private Law Legal Entities (NPID) of the wider Public Sector are not eligible and are excluded from the action.
This is an important project with a social and developmental sign, which is financed by the “Greece 2.0 Recovery and Resilience Fund” with a total budget of 100 million euros. It is implemented by the Information Society (KtP M.A.E.) with a final date of December 31, 2025.
It is recalled that the interested installers through the smartreadiness.gov.gr platform can submit their application until Monday, June 30, 2025, for the buildings that are eligible under the Action “Infrastructure Readiness for Smart Buildings (Smart Readiness)”.
