The enchanting image of a star cluster forming a Christmas tree in the universe has been published by NASA, making an unlikely gift to its followers on social media, on Christmas Eve.
“Last Christmas, NASA Chandra X-ray gave us a star cluster. This year, the new telescope views (combined with Chandra data) gave us something special,” NASA wrote.

The star cluster NGC 2264, also called the “Christmas Tree Cluster”, is a cluster of young stars (between one and five million years old) located in our Milky Way galaxy, about 2,500 light-years from Earth.
These stars appear in the photo as blue and white lights, and are surrounded by swirls of gas – the ‘pine needles’ of the tree – with green representing light in the visible spectrum.
