Researchers say it is shaping our understanding of how we are protected from infection, causing an antibiotic seeking to tackle the growing problem of hypertrophia that resist our current medicines.

The discovery focuses on protesters, a tiny structure found in each cell’s cell. Its main role is to cut the old proteins into smaller pieces so that they can recycle to become new.

But a series of experiments, described in detail in Nature Magazineshows that the protection detects when a cell is infected with bacteria. It then changes structure and role, turning old proteins into weapons that can tear the outer layer of bacteria to kill them.

“This is really exciting, because we never knew it was happening. We have discovered a new immunity mechanism that allows us to have a defense against bacterial infections, ”the members of the scientific team at the BBC note. “It happens throughout our body in all cells and creates a completely new category of possible natural antibiotics.”

The research team went through a process they called “Dumpster Diving” to find these natural antibiotics.

They were tested in bacteria developed in the laboratory and in mice with pneumonia and rot. The researchers said they had results comparable to some established antibiotics.

And when the researchers took cells in the laboratory and turned off the protection, it was much easier to become infected with bacteria such as salmonella.

“What is really exciting about it is that it is a completely unexplored process by which molecules against germs are produced in our cells, is very important and amazing.”

However, researchers warned that conversion of this product into a new source of antibiotics is an idea that “still needs to be tested” and will take time.

More than a million people per year are estimated to die of infections that are resistant to drugs such as antibiotics.
