Scientists now believe that there is a way to travel millions of light years in a matter of seconds using wormholes
From Interstellar to Star Wars, science fiction is full of stories about how people could travel to the universe and visit distant worlds.
However, even with the most advanced modern rockets, a journey to the ends of our solar system could last for most of a human life.
Scientists now believe that there is a way to travel millions of light years in a matter of seconds using wormholes.
What are wormholes
Dr. Andrea Ford, theoretical astrophysicist from Liverpool John Moores, said that “worms are” tunnels “in the web of space and time, which can shorten the normal path between two distant areas in our universe.”
According to Einstein, an object with mass deforms space -time tissue, such as a weight falling on a rubber membrane. It is these curves that create the power of gravity. The wormholes take advantage of these curves, creating immediate bridges between distant points.
The point where the tunnel enters the space is called Stomio, while the link between the two orifice is called the neck.
Can wormholes be used for space trip?
Professor Stoikovic explains that worms exploit these curves, creating an immediate passage from one point to another.
Instead of making the long journey on the surface of space from one point to another, we can simply take the direct route through the neck of the wormhole.
Indeed, no matter how far the orifice of each other is in the conventional space; with enough curvature of gravity, they can be almost in contact with space.
Theoretically, people could take advantage of this phenomenon and travel huge distances in a matter of seconds.
Professor Stoikovic says: “If the worm -rolled neck is large enough to fit a spaceship, then we can use the shortcut provided by the worm.”
He emphasizes that “at the moment we have such opportunities only on a very small scale. But that does not mean that we will not have them in a distant future or that an alien culture does not already have them. “
“Finally, mankind’s construction potential can hardly compete with the potential of nature. So, worms that have been created naturally may already exist, and maybe someday we can take advantage of them. “
Are there really worms?
Although wormholes are theoretically feasible, scientists do not have immediate evidence that they really exist. It may be so difficult to identify or simply do not exist in our universe.
Because worms are very unstable by nature, some scientists believe that they could not actually exist.
This has led some to argue that wormholes may be nothing more than a useful theoretical tool for understanding Einstein’s equations.
However, scientists are now developing the tools that could detect wormholes, if any, and Professor Stoikovic is optimistic that someday we will have evidence.
“Nature, whose creative power is far superior to that of man, always finds a way to create something described by solutions of founded theories such as the general theory of relativity.
“Schwarzild’s solution, describing the black holes, was proposed in 1916 and for fifty years scientists refused to believe that something was so strange. Today, we see them everywhere. I believe that something similar will happen to the wormholes. “
