Employers’ demand for degrees is reduced in all jobs and faster for the professions exposed to artificial intelligence, according to PWC’s “Barometer 2025 AI” report.

“Artificial intelligence helps people process faster specialized knowledge, which could make formal qualifications less important,” according to the report, which analyzed almost one billion labor ads and thousands of economic companies worldwide.

Technology also creates a rapid rotation in the skills and knowledge that workers need to achieve, which may mean that diplomas will be “overcome” faster, added to the report.

In particular, the skills looking for employers change 66% faster in the professions that are more exposed to artificial intelligence, such as economic analysts, compared to those that are less exposed, such as physiotherapists. This percentage is increased by the 25% recorded last year, according to PWC data.

“For employees, the greatest emphasis on the skills on the diplomas in recruitment can contribute to the equilibrium of opportunities, opening doors for those who do not have the time or resources to obtain a degree,” the report said. “In areas exposed to TN, what matters is increasingly what people can do today, not what they have studied in the past.”

Are the degrees outdated?

“Today, education is no longer limited to official institutions or universities, as you can be trained in large linguistic models using AI tools,” said Joe Atkinson, Global Chief Ai Officer at PWC at CNBC Make It. In order to adapt and secure your career for the future in the rapidly changing labor landscape, he proposed to upgrade knowledge of TN.

“I think the ability of individuals to use enormous amounts of knowledge is reinforced in this age of artificial intelligence,” Atkinson said.

It proposes to explore the various models of artificial intelligence, understand the differences between them, monitor technological blogs, and practice the use of tools as much as possible.

“The most important thing is that skills TN are practical skills. They are applied skills … you should use technology, “he noted.

But in the end, official education is not just about acquiring knowledge and skills – “it concerns the whole man,” he said. “It’s about how you think and how you interact and how you criticize. I think these abilities will be of greater value in the future, not smaller, “he concluded.
