If you didn’t choose to totally disconnect this Carnival holiday, or rather Tiradentes, you must have already seen the main news of the last few hours: President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) granted a pardon to Deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ), convicted of attacks on members of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
While the opposition criticizes the pardon on the networks and takes action against the measure to the STF, the atmosphere in Jair Bolsonaro’s profiles is of having fallen in favor with the crowd.
In terms of engagement, a calculation that takes into account likes, comments and shares, it is safe to say that the subject was a hit among the president’s supporters.
A good thermometer of this is Telegram, a messaging application considered fundamental in the Bolsonarista communication strategy for 2022.
On his official channel on the platform, with 1.3 million followers, Jair Bolsonaro published a video excerpt in which he reads the decree with forgiveness to Silveira. Until the closing of this text, it had almost 7,500 comments. For comparison, most messages sent on the president’s official app channel in April received a few hundred responses. No other content went much further than two thousand.
Content about the pardon shared on Jair Bolsonaro’s Facebook and Instagram profiles are among the top of the year. This is what CrowdTangle points out, a network engagement analysis system maintained by Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram.
On Facebook, the live broadcast in which the president reads the decree with the forgiveness of Daniel Silveira is the content with the most engagement in the last 30 days, considering until 1 pm this Friday (22). There were 75 thousand shares, 80 thousand comments and 275 thousand reactions (likes, hearts, angry faces, etc.).
On Instagram, Bolsonaro’s profile made two posts on the subject. The video with the president reading the decree was the one that most engaged this month (among other videos) and the photo with a reproduction of the pardon text was the fifth image that stood out the most. Again, considering data until the end of this report.
And what are bolsonaristas saying? In short, “congratulations” and “thank you”.
The tone of the comments doesn’t change much from that view on the president’s Twitter. On the platform, by the way, the pardon of Daniel Silveira was one of the most commented — also driven by criticism from the opposition.
And the supporters… Well, they support it.
Meanwhile, there is also discussion about the validity of the pardon.
