The cold, the long holiday in Tiradentes and the absence of restrictions imposed by the pandemic have created expectations of a good movement of tourists in Campos do Jordão, in Vale do Paraíba, for the next few days. The flow of people on Thursday night (21) was seen with celebration by local merchants.
According to the director of Sinhores (Union of Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Similar) of São José dos Campos and Region, Paulo César da Costa, the tendency is for a full house in the main accommodations available in the city. The intense flow of vehicles on the way up the mountain and on arrival in the city was also an encouragement for those who saw the municipality suffer from the damage imposed by the pandemic.
“This weekend, with the holiday, we are working with an expectation of 80% occupancy of the hotel chain. Today, we already had a good movement in the city. Tomorrow it should increase a little more”, said Costa. The man pointed out that the good presence of tourists had already been noticed last week, during Holy Week.
At around 6 pm on Thursday, according to Costa’s report, it was already possible to see several people walking through the city wrapped in clothing. At that time, the temperature in the city was around 14°C. However, to the delight of tourists looking for the cold, the forecast was that the minimum would reach 8°C.
This Friday (22), the temperature should be similar, with the thermometers registering a minimum of 9°C. During the day, the maximum can reach 23°C. The possibility of rain is not ruled out.
In addition to the typical cold in the region for the next few months, there are still other activities in town for the holiday. On Saturday (23), from 7 pm, Paulinho da Viola & Família will perform at the Claudio Santoro auditorium, a government institution in São Paulo. Tickets cost BRL 80, with half-price at BRL 40.
According to the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, it will be the first time that the sambista will be in the city with his children, João and Beatriz Rabello. They must sing great hits, such as “Pecado capital”, “Coração leviano” and “It was a river that passed in my life”. The trio is also expected to present current compositions, such as “Sempre se can dream”, title of the singer’s most recent album, which won the 2021 Latin Grammy.
In all, between April and June, there will be ten musical performances with renowned artists of Brazilian Popular Music, with names such as Maria Rita, Sandra de Sá, Alceu Valença and Gal Costa.
Another attraction in Campos do Jordão on the holiday is a gastronomic festival adopted by several restaurants in the city. “We are in the pine nut season, so there are several restaurants in the city participating in a festival involving the delicacy, from the starter, main courses and pine nut-based desserts”, added Costa.
The union director makes projections of economic recovery. “We imagine recovering the losses accumulated during the pandemic with this coming season”, he added.
