Kasia Gallanio, 46, grew up in the United States in a family of Polish origins. But after meeting Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, uncle of the current emir of Qatar, she ended up adopting Arab customs and many began to think she was a princess born in the Middle Eastern country.
Kasia met Al-Thani in the 1990s. At the time, the former Qatari Minister of Oil and Finance was in exile in France. It didn’t take long for the young woman to become the third wife of the multi-millionaire and a member of the Qatari royal family.
But the marriage, which on the outside appeared to be out of a fairy tale, quickly collapsed, giving way to a difficult divorce process that involved a legal battle for custody of the couple’s three daughters: Malak, Yasmin and Reem. Al-Thani was suspected of sexual abuse against his daughters, which the prince always denied. Kasia, in turn, was accused of excessive consumption of alcohol and drugs.
The substances that would have caused Kasia’s death are still unknown, but the main suspect is that of overdose. She was found at her home in Marbella, southern Spain, after one of her daughters alerted authorities to her disappearance.
According to the Spanish press, which reported the death on Tuesday (31), agents found Kasia Gallanio lying on her bed, already lifeless. They did not say how long she had been dead.
Kasia Gallanio, who did not hide her passion for fashion and assumed she was an unconditional admirer of Italian actress Sophia Loren, chose to live in Marbella after the conclusion of the divorce process. Since then, she has been a frequent presence at events and parties that brought together the richest and most powerful personalities who passed through southern Spain.
She has also pointed out a relationship with Ahmed Ashmawi, heir to Sheikh Ashmawi, a friend of the King of Morocco and, in 2019, she was seen several times in the company of Francisco de Borbón, second son of Francisco de Paula de Borbón y Escani, Duke of Seville. and second cousin of the former King of Spain Juan Carlos.
