Soldiers opened fire on residents who attacked them with stones and Molotov cocktails, according to an Israeli military statement.
Israeli soldiers shot and killed two Palestinians today in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
In incidents that erupted in the morning, when Israeli security forces arrested a man on the outskirts of Bethlehem, soldiers opened fire on residents who attacked them with stones and Molotov cocktails, according to an Israeli army statement.
A man fell dead from the fire, without it being clear if he was involved in the episodes, said a Palestinian official. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has condemned the killings.
The Association of Palestinian Prisoners of War, which defends Palestinians held in Israeli jails, said the victim had been arrested by Israeli authorities and released after serving his sentence in 2014. He did not specify what crime he had been convicted of.
A few hours later, a 17-year-old Palestinian fell dead by Israeli soldiers. According to the Israeli army, three Palestinians fired Molotov cocktails at an outpost in the West Bank, and soldiers responded by opening fire, resulting in the death of one of the attackers.
Yesterday, Wednesday, two other Palestinians were killed by Israeli security forces in the occupied West Bank.
In recent weeks and after a series of attacks by Palestinians, the Israeli army has increased its operations in the West Bank, an area it occupied during the 1967 war.
