A woman in california had the pleasant surprise to discover $ 36,000 tucked away in a sofa cushion where was given for free by classifieds site – but she herself hurried to hand over the money to its owners.
African-American Vicky Umudu wanted to furnish her new home for a small fee and was very happy to find this sofa.
“I just moved in and I have nothing at home,” she told ABC7 from her home in Colton, near Los Angeles.
As soon as she put the couch in her house, Umudu found a suspicious lump in one of his pillows: several envelopes full of cash, each containing thousands of dollars.
“I was telling my son ‘come on, come on!’. I was screaming ‘this is money! I have to call the master,'” he said.
Exemplary honesty, Umudu contacted those who had given her the couch to notify them of her finding and hand over the money.
The family, who emptied the house of a relative who had recently passed away, replied that they were completely unaware of the existence and origin of this money. But to please Umudu, he gave her more than $ 2,000 to buy the new refrigerator she needed.
“I did not expect to get a penny,” the woman said.
