A spokesman for the provincial authorities, Abubakar Sediq, said 30 to 40 people had been arrested by security forces, without explaining why.
A Taliban official confirmed on Saturday that dozens of civilians had been detained in the Panjir Valley, where an armed struggle is being waged against Sunni fundamentalists after power in Afghanistan fell to them on August 15.
A spokesman for the provincial authorities, Abubakar Sediq, said 30 to 40 people had been arrested by security forces, without explaining why.
The information is confirmed as the media report that at least one hundred citizens were arrested because they are allegedly collaborating with the National Resistance Front, an organization that fights the Taliban in the valley.
A video circulating on social media sites shows some of the detainees getting out of a truck after being taken to a provincial jail.
According to local sources, at least one detainee died at the hands of the Taliban.
The UN special envoy for human rights in Afghanistan has warned that violations in Panjir and other provinces are considered a very serious matter by the Organization.
