A woman who suffered 70% of three burns following a volcanic eruption in New Zealand presented for the first time in two and a half years.

Stephanie Brobit, 26, from Melbourne, spent two weeks in a coma in December 2019 after the White Island explosion.

The disaster killed Father Paul, 21 people, and 22 people, including Crystal.

Stephanie said that after removing her compression mask within 30 months and 60 minutes of treatment, “I experienced much more than I expected in my life.”

“I’m tougher than I ever thought,” he added.

“I think I learned that the struggle to survive is a reality. I fought every day to survive, but only to recover myself. I know that I am in myself. I did not do it”.

At the time of the eruption, a total of 47 people lived on the island, and black smoke billowed from the center, separating Stephanie, Paul, and the Crater of Glass.

“It came from behind and got louder and louder. The closer I got, the more stones I heard. I heard all the rocks hitting the ground and people screaming.”

“I didn’t think I would survive… I thought I would die.”

Crystal’s body was later recovered by the recovery team, but Father Paul died from his injury.
