The celebrations of the Day of Portugal (10/06) will be marked by cultural events in São Paulo.
The country’s representative in the latest edition of Eurovision, the young Maro will perform on June 12 in a morning concert, scheduled for 11 am, at Sala São Paulo.
Considered one of the main revelations of Portuguese music, the singer will take the stage accompanied by a strong team: the Brazilian brothers Pedro Altério (guitar and bass) and Gabriel Altério (drums and percussion), in addition to the Americans Isaiah Beard (guitar and bass) and John Blanda (piano).
On June 14, the festivities take place in the gardens of the Portuguese consulate, starting at 6 pm, with the debate “First day of the rest of your life”.
The meeting, in the form of a conversation, will bring together the Portuguese poet and composer Sérgio Godinho, the pianist Filipe Raposo and the Brazilian singer Zeca Baleiro, winner of the Latin Grammy for best MPB album of 2021, with “Canções d’Além Mar”, a disc with several versions of Lusitanian songs. Also participating in the event are Marcelo Aliche, director of the In-Edit festival, and Anabela Cunha, founder of the cultural agency Connceting Dots.
The following day, June 15, Sérgio Godinho, Filipe Raposo and Zeca Baleiro meet again, this time on the stage of Teatro B32, at 7:30 pm. The São Paulo Big Band also participates in the show.
All presentations are free, but admission is subject to room capacity.
The initiatives are part of the Experimenta Portugal project, run by the Portuguese consulate in São Paulo.
