Eurobarometer: In favor of the introduction of the euro in Member States that have not yet adopted it

56% of survey participants say that the introduction of the euro would lead to higher prices.

Today, the Commission published the annual emergency Eurobarometer regarding the introduction of the euro in Member States that have not yet adopted it the common currency. The survey was conducted from 20 to 29 April 2022 at Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

According to her, the euro enjoys widespread support: on average, 60% of respondents said they were in favor of the introduction of the single currency. The most favorable views in favor of adopting the euro were expressed in Romania (77% in favor) and Hungary (69%), while the least favorable in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic (44% in both cases) and Sweden (45%). More than half of respondents believe that the introduction of the common currency would have positive consequences for their country (55%).

However, 56% of those surveyed also believe that the introduction of the euro would lead to higher prices. In addition, according to the survey, citizens of non-euro area Member States are better informed about this issue than in the past. 53% of respondents believe that they are informed about the euro, compared to 51% last year and 44% in 2015.
