Podcast: Vatican reforms and rumors that Pope Francis could resign

by

It’s been nearly a decade since Benedict renounced the throne of Saint Peter and the Catholic Church chose the first Latin American cardinal as its supreme leader.

Since then, Pope Francis has named new cardinals who can perpetuate his views on Catholicism and has implemented a series of reforms in the Church. The last one promoted changes in the Roman Curia and was recently completed.

At the same time, rumors have been circulating that Francis, already in poor health, could follow in his predecessor’s footsteps and resign from the pontificate.

In this Monday’s episode (13), Café da Manhã talks with journalist Edison Veiga. He looks at reforms in the Church, explains the significance of Francis’ choice of new cardinals and discusses the buzz in the Vatican that the pope might resign.
