A Moscow court has ordered the arrest of a senior Aeroflot executive and head of the aircraft fleet planning and development department. Michael Minayevwith the accusation of fraud on a particularly large scale.
His arrest was reported by the RBK newspaper, citing its own source, while it was confirmed by the court’s press service to the TASS agency, writes the newspaper Novayagazeta.europe.
According to the Interfax agency, Minayev will remain in custody until August 8.
According to the source of RBK, through the management of which Minayev was in charge, the aircraft purchases and leases. Based on the organizational structure of Aeroflot, this management was subordinated to the Deputy General Manager of the company responsible for commercial and financial affairs Andrei Tsikhanov.
Earlier in May, a Moscow court ordered the arrest in absentia of former Aeroflot Deputy General Manager Andrei Panov on charges of fraud by an organized group of individuals on a particularly large scale. Panov left Russia and an international arrest warrant was issued against him. According to the RBK source, this is a criminal case related to a contract amounting to 200 million rubles concerning the elaboration of a marketing strategy of Aeroflot, which the Russian company had signed with the American Brain in 2019.
Bloomberg recently reported that Aeroflot has a stockpile of spare parts for its Boeing and Airbus aircraft for three months, after which it will be forced to convert some of its aircraft into spare parts to serve its fleet.
